Chamber Philharmonic Taipei (CPT) is a professional chamber orchestra that hosts annual summer seasons while bringing together (mainly) Taiwanese musicians from around the world.
Founded in Spring 2009, it was originally formed of undergraduate music majors from the class of 2011 of National Taiwan Normal University’s School of Music. The orchestra has become fully professionalized over the years. With a particular emphasis on Baroque and music scored for the chamber orchestra, CPT organized the acclaimed Bach Cantata Taiwan project starting in 2011 and a contemporary music initiative a year after.
Starting in 2013, CPT hosted annual summer seasons based in the National Recital Hall of Taipei’s CKS Cultural Center complex. Meeting in Taipei every summer, the musicians of the orchestra are mainly Taiwanese professional orchestral players based around the world, including members of Taiwan’s National Symphony, Taipei Symphony, Kaohsiung Symphony, and Taiwan Symphony orchestras, Germany’s Lübeck Philharmonic and NDR Symphony orchestras, China’s National Symphony, Hangzhou Philharmonic, and NCPA orchestras, and US’s Jacksonville Symphony and the Indianapolis Opera.
